Prof Kelvin Chong’s clinical and research interests span from orbital (thyroid eye, tumor, trauma), oculoplastic (lacrimal, eyelid, socket) to ocular surface disorders and related translational studies. He is the Clinical Associate Professor and the Coordinator of the Orbital and Oculoplastic Surgery, at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) as well as the Clinical Director of the Eye Centre, CUHK Medical Centre. He is the honorary consultant ophthalmologist of the CUHK Medical Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong Eye Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Alice Ho Nethersole Hospital and Grantham Hospital.

He serves as the Education Secretary of the International Thyroid Eye Disease Society, Past Vice President and Secretary of Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Past President of Hong Kong Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He obtained Prevention of Blindness Award from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (2024), the Senior Achievement Award from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (2023) and pioneered the first Thyroid Eye Clinic (TEC) in HK which was selected as the Hospital Authority- Outstanding Team: “TEC@NTEC” (2020), along with numerous awards including the Top Surgical Video Award in the World Ophthalmology Congress (2018).

Prof Chong published over 80 peer-reviewed articles, 10 book chapters, 8 patents and delivered over 260 invited and keynote lectures. He obtained over HK$25 million competitive research grant over the past 5 years.
