Welcome to the International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye
Welcome to the website of the International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye (ISD-DE), the world’s unique society combining wet and dry eyes.
We all know about wet and dry ageing macular degeneration but many people do not realise the proximity of wet and dry eyes in scientific research and clinical practice.
Dacryology is the term used to describe the science and clinical practice of tears, or often lack of them, of the eyelids, the conjunctiva, the cornea, the lacrimal drainage system and its drainage into the nose, the nasal space and mucosal lining, in health and disease. The causes of wet and dry eyes are often multifactorial.
- ISD-DE is for people interested in the tears, either too few or too many tears.
- ISD-DE is about a junctional area, as tears flow over the surface of the eye and into the nose.
- ISD-DE is about vision as the tears are the mirror of the eye and are required for ocular health, comfort and clear vision.
A warm welcome to ISD-DE
