Pelin Kaynak, MD had her ophthalmology training in Istanbul Beyoğlu Eye Research Hospital after 2 years of state service and 3,5 years of academic work in Istanbul Univ. Cerrahpaşa Med. School, Biophysics Department.
She had her first and continuing orbitofacial plastic surgery training in UCLA, JSEI, Orbitofacial Plastic Surgery Department with Norman Shorr and Robert A. Goldberg where she first visited in 1996 and 1997.
After several years of private practice in Istanbul, she had founded the Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division of Istanbul Beyoğlu Eye Research and Training Hospital in 2002, and practiced as director of the department until 2017 where she had trained many residents and national and international fellows.
At present, her practice and research is mostly focused on lacrimal surgery, minimally invasive aesthetic and functional periocular and non surgical periocular rejuvenation. She participates in courses and scientific meetings to train ophthalmologists and residents in the field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Executive board member of TSOPRS, a full member of TOA, TCOD, TSOPRS, ESOPRSand IDDES and an international associate member of ASOPRS.
Editoral board member in major ophthalmology journals. She has published articles, written over 30 book chapters, co-edited textbooks related to ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
She is most excited and happy where she can apply the first rule of economics to periorbital surgery, gets it work and teaches it.
She keeps her hope in learning fine arts, other arts, sociology, music, more piano playing, more dancing, more travelling and then becoming a constant traveller when she gets old.
